Edmonton Portrait Photography – Rock the Dress for Breast Cancer

Adam and I were so happy to be able to participate in the “Rock the Dress for Breast Cancer” marathon photo shoot fundraiser last week. All of the money raised was donated to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event.

This fundraiser was especially important for me because my mom is a two-time Breast Cancer survivor. I remember growing up hearing stories about her first bout with Breast Cancer, and I remember seeing her battle it a second time.  What we noticed was there had been vast improvements in treatment and options since she was first diagnosed over 30 years ago.  We strongly believe that this has largely been made possible by the money raised by the various Cancer charities.

The concept of the fundraiser was simple: wear a dress, get portrait photos taken, help a great cause. We had a fantastic time helping women rock their wedding dresses, graduation dress, bridesmaid dresses or regular dresses!

Edmonton Portrait Photography – Karen’s Rock the Dress

When I put out the call for models for a “Trash the Dress / Rock the Dress” portrait photo shoot, I didn’t know who (if anyone) would respond.  Thankfully, Karen was eager and willing to get another use out of her wedding dress to get some cool wedding photos. And I couldn’t have asked for a better model.

Despite posing in the snow and ice and getting strange looks from people, Karen never complained. If anything, she was the opposite! Every idea I threw at her was met with a response of “Oh cool!” or “Yeah, okay. Let’s do it!” Needless to say, she rocked it!

2010 Year in Review

Here is a collage of some of Crowe Photo’s photoshoots from this past year.

Crowe Photo had a really good year in 2010.  It was the first year that we really started to build a business from a hobby.  We had a lot of firsts, like out first blog post and we launched our website as well.  All and all it was a great year and we expect even more great things from 2011.
